About

Barry Lynch Insight Coaching

Having graduated from UCC in 1986 with a Degree in Civil Engineering and a Post-graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, I spent the first nine years of my career working as a Process Engineer in the electronics industry, initially with NEC Semiconductors, and then with Alps Electric. While in Alps Electric, I moved from Engineering into Training & Development, and held the position of Training Manager there from 1995 to 1998, responsible for identifying training needs, sourcing training providers, and also delivering some of my own programmes.

Since 1998 I have worked full time as an independent Training Consultant & Coach, with a variety of clients in Ireland, the UK and South Africa,  presenting a wide range of training & development programmes on topics such as Presentation Skills, Communication Skills, Time Management, Stress Management, Managing Meetings, Problem Solving, Team Building, and also Edward deBono’s Six Thinking Hats and Lateral Thinking programmes.

In recent years I have specialised in one-to-one Performance Coaching, and to date I have coached over 200 people from a variety of organisations in both the private and public sectors. My clients have come from all levels within these organisations from CEOs to Leadership Team members, Middle Managers & Supervisors, and Front-Line staff.

My approach to coaching is based on a philosophy of developing a very close working relationship with the client during the course of the programme, helping them develop a greater sense of self-awareness, and then using this to identify the goals they want to achieve.

I am a Certified MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Practitioner, and I use this tool extensively during the self-awareness building phase of the coaching programme. I am passionate about coaching, and really enjoy seeing people grow & develop, and I get great satisfaction from being able to help them achieve their goals. My style has been described as systematic, structured, professional, reflective and friendly.

I am married to Michelle, and we have three children, Una, Emer and Eoin.
In my spare time I like to play tennis (quite badly), and go running (quite slowly).
